Cost-effective RTUs for applications with a low degree of automationS7-1200 are suited for applications with a low degree of automation. They are inexpensive and are characterized by their small and compact hardware design. They can communicate with Telecontrol control centers over various Telecontrol protocols using communications processors (CPs). This means that the advantages of the SIMATIC S7-1200 Basic Controller can also be used in the Telecontrol environment.
RTUs based on SIMATIC S7-1200 are ideal for small stations in Telecontrol applications, such as widely distributed sewage and water treatment plants, district heating networks, and in energy and traffic engineering.

Modular and flexible
The SIMATIC S7-1200 offers a wide range of varying CPU types and I/O modules as well as technology modules. Using different CP versions, cost-effective RTUs can be realized for the various applications, e.g. with a connection to the 4G mobile network integrated directly in the station without additional external industrial routers.
