Polyoxymethylene (pmf) consists of repeated structural units. It is divided into homopolymer and copolyformaldehyde. The former is made from anhydrous trimerization of formaldehyde at low temperature, while the latter is a copolymer with a small amount of oxirane. There are similarities and differences between the two. (1) homopolymeraldehyde. Homopolymeraldehyde is produced by formaldehyde synthesis, paraformaldehyde synthesis and radiation polymerization of triformaldehyde. In China, formaldehyde synthesis is used. Homopolymer formaldehyde is a kind of translucent or opaque white powder or granule, it is highly crystalline, and the combination of polymer and molecular chain is compact, so its melting point is 10 ° C higher than that of copolymer formaldehyde, and its mechanical strength, such as tensile strength and strength, is high, and its rigidity is large, good fatigue resistance, creep resistance, small friction coefficient, good wear resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, good electrical insulation, so homopolymer is a comprehensive performance, excellent engineering plastics, in particular, the fatigue resistance of engineering plastics is good. But its resistance, poor UV, so often add carbon black or UV absorbent. (2) copolyformaldehyde. Copolyformaldehyde is prepared by copolymerization of dioxane and triparaldehyde. There are solution polymerization and bulk polymerization. The product of solution polymerization has good thermal stability, but the production process of bulk polymerization is simple and the operation is simple, it is now faster to use a twin-screw reactor, and it is possible to produce fiberglass-reinforced pom products directly from RIM. Copolyformaldehyde is also a kind of linear polymer with high density and crystallinity. Its crystallinity and melting point are lower than that of homopolymer formaldehyde, but its melting point is obvious, wide processing temperature, excellent fatigue resistance, self-lubrication, good wear resistance, wear less than general engineering plastics.
